Dear Advocates and Friends of the National Kidney Foundation,

I am honored and humbled to step into the role of interim Senior Vice President of Government Relations for the National Kidney Foundation. My background is in adult and pediatric nephrology as well as public policy and quality measurement, and I have witnessed firsthand the devastating impacts kidney disease can have on patients and their families.

NKF’s mission to drive advocacy and policy change to improve outcomes for kidney patients is one that is deeply personal to me. During my time as the nephrologist at the Centers for Medicaid and Medicaid Services, we knew we could rely on NKF to always have the best interests of people with kidney disease as their primary focus. I am excited to continue that work with you. 

I want to express my sincere gratitude to Sharon Pearce for her tireless efforts and leadership in this position. She laid a strong foundation and made incredible strides in advancing policies to benefit the kidney community. I have big shoes to fill, but I am committed to building upon the important work she started.

To the dedicated advocates who fight day in and day out - thank you for your passion, your perseverance, and for using your voices to drive change. I recognize that taking on a role like this comes with a learning curve. I ask for your patience and partnership as I spend the first few weeks to months listening, learning about top priorities, and charting the course ahead.

Kidney disease impacts millions of Americans, including too many children. By combining my clinical and government experience with NKF's powerful advocacy force, I am confident we can achieve meaningful policies that enhance research, prevention, and access to quality care.

I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work alongside all of you. Together, we will remain a relentless voice and source of hope for kidney patients everywhere.
