Lauren became a living donor in 2014 after hearing about living organ donation on the news. When reading about living kidney donation online, she found a Facebook page with stories of people who needed transplants. As soon as she realized she could help someone that needed a transplant, she never had a second thought! She called UPenn, signed up for a donor information session, and 7 months later, she was donating her kidney! She started a donor chain where four people got kidneys the day she donated hers. Later on, she was able to meet her recipient and his wife, who also became a living donor, and they even came to her wedding a few years later! One important takeaway Lauren had was that even though she donated her kidney, she actually was the one who received. She got to meet so many amazing people in the process and is proud to be a part of an awesome community!
