As this public health crisis affects 37 million Americans, we know that kidney disease is often worsened by lack of access to quality health care. It’s been made worse by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In December, the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) sent the Biden Administration a recommended agenda to support kidney patients during their first 100 days in office:
- Continue prioritizing kidney patients in the official response to COVID-19.
- Invest in kidney health.
- Establish an Office of Transplantation within the Department of Health and Human Services.
- Expand and build upon the Advancing American Kidney Health (AAKH) initiative.
