Jennifer Milton is a Clinical Assistant Professor and the Chief Administrative Officer at the University Health Transplant Institute, where she is charged to integrate the business, operational, quality, and strategic efforts for University of Texas Health San Antonio and the University Health System. University Health Transplant Institute performs adult and pediatric liver, kidney and lung transplant and is the home of the Center for Life, a facility dedicated to the care of tissue and organ donors. The Center for Life is proud to partner with the South Texas Blood and Tissue, San Antonio Eye Bank and Texas Organ Sharing Alliance a partnership that has impacted over 80,000 recipients of organ, tissue and corneas since it’s opening in just 2020.
Jennifer entered the field of transplantation almost thirty years ago as an organ donation nurse coordinator in South Carolina and refers to her very first experiences with donor families as her continued source of passion for this field. Jennifer has volunteered on numerous local and national nonprofit boards including Past Chair of the UNOS Policy Oversight Committee, Texas Kidney Foundation, and Donate Life America which recently launched the National Living Donor Registry. She serves as a Primary Investigator for several research endeavors, has published and presented extensively on issues impacting the field of donation and transplantation. She has been honored by the San Antonio Business Journal as a Health Care Hero, received the Batz Foundation Weezie Hero award and was named the 2022 Heckenkemper Leader in US Transplant Administration.
