Nicole Piero has been practicing as a nurse practitioner for the past 15 years. Her first two years were spent in Urology. For the past 13 years she has been practicing in nephrology where she found her passion, diabetic kidney disease. She practiced at the Cincinnati VAMC from 2009-2021. While at the Cincinnati VAMC she began NP run CKD clinics, a group education program for dialysis planning, was co-PI or sub-PI on numerous research projects, and was chair of the APRN Research and Evidence Based Practice Committee. She then transitioned to the University of Cincinnati to continue her clinical and research work.
While at the University of Cincinnati she completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice with an educational program to improve adherence to the new clinical guidelines for care of the diabetic kidney disease patient. She resides in Milford, Ohio with her husband, two children, and dog. She enjoys running outside of her work and home obligations.
