You are giving hope to patients and their families.

After Davidson’s kidney transplant was delayed due to the pandemic shutdown last spring, Caryn and Dave did everything they could to keep their son with his weakened immune system safe. During this time, the National Kidney Foundation was working diligently with the Health and Human Services (HHS) to prioritize organ recovery and kidney transplants as essential procedures that have immediate, significant, and life-long benefits for patients.

Luckily, Davidson did not have to wait too much longer. Caryn successfully donated her kidney to Davidson in early July. Despite complications during the initial procedure which led to three surgeries in just 10 days, the transplant was a success.

With his surgeries behind him, Davidson was feeling better and inspired to help others. In December, Davidson approached his parents with an idea. He wanted to raise money for NKF and support other children who had to spend their holidays in the hospital. His fundraising goal was $500, but his campaign took off and he has now raised over $6,500.

‘To see his resilience and his sort of attitude of “OK, I'm through it. Now what can I do to help others?” makes you really proud,’ Caryn said.
