You are the strongest advocate for kidney patients, living donors, and their families.
On March 2nd, NKF hosted its ninth annual Kidney Patient Summit. The largest summit to date featured advocates from 41 states who held more than 230 meetings with elected officials and their staff. As COVID-19 and its variants continue to create more kidney patients, the message to lawmakers is more urgent than ever. By sharing their personal stories, as well as key facts and figures on the prevalence of kidney disease in America, our Voices for Kidney Health were able to uniquely speak to the urgency behind backing our federal agenda. This year's priorities include supporting:
• The Federal Living Donor Protection Act, which would prohibit discrimination against living donors in life, disability, and long-term care insurance.
• The Improve Access to Home Dialysis Act to eliminate barriers to accessing all treatment options for dialysis patients.
• The increase of federal funding for kidney related prevention and research activities
