CNSW Upper Midwest Chapter

The Upper Midwest CNSW Chapter has worked on strengthening the wellbeing and knowledge of the social workers in the chapter with informational presentations. The Chapter and the local Social Security Administration office have worked together on a process to be more effective and efficient on processing ESRD Medicare applications for dialysis and kidney transplant patients.

The Upper Midwest CNSW Chapter was instrumental in advocating for Minnesota EMA to be one of the first states to cover outpatient kidney dialysis. Shortly thereafter, through additional advocacy efforts, kidney transplant was also added as a benefit of EMA insurance.

Some Chapter members are involved with committees at the national CNSW level. In addition, chapter members are involved with the local NKF kidney walk, Patient Social Summit, and the Minnesota Twins, NKF and Life Source Donate Life program. Many of the chapter members promote the local and national NKF programs to their dialysis and transplant patients, as well as to other staff. Chapter members are also involved in committees, programs and projects with the Midwest Kidney Network.
