Kathy Aebel-Groesch is a graduate of the Brown School at Washington University and has been a nephrology social worker and CNSW member since 1995. She worked in in-center and home clinics for over 20 years before joining DaVita’s National Social Work Team full-time, where she is currently a senior manager focusing on clinical and technical innovation and health equity. She has been invited to speak at NKF Spring Clinical Meetings, ASN Kidney Week, the Annual Dialysis Conference, ESRD Network sessions, and local NKF meetings. As an advocate for demonstrating the impact of nephrology social work, Kathy has proudly presented her team’s posters at ASN Kidney Week and NKF Spring Clinical Meetings, where they won Outstanding Poster Award twice. She serves on the editorial board of Nephrology News & Issues and the advisory board of Dialysis Patient Citizens. Kathy lives in St. Louis and has been married to her husband, Scott, for 31 years. They have three children, Alex, Andrew, Anna, daughter-in-law, Anne, and granddaughter, Scarlet. Kathy enjoys reading, music, and traveling with her family.
