National Kidney Month and World Kidney Day 2024

March is National Kidney Month and Thursday, March 14, 2024 is World Kidney Day. 

 

Proclamations declaring March Kidney Awareness Month have been submitted and thank you to: Dubuque IA, Davenport IA, Bettendorf IA, Council Bluffs IA, Iowa City/Johnson County IA, North Liberty IA, Ottumwa IA, Waukee IA, & Sioux City IA for declaring March National Kidney Month in their Cities. 

Thank you to the building and landmarks that went orange in National Kidney Month. Thank you to Science Center of Iowa, Ottumwa Viaduct, Davenport Sky Bridge, Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge, and Warrior Hotel for going orange on World Kidney night. 

Wear orange on World Kidney Day and encourage your friends, family, and co-workers to join you! Share photos on social media with #GoOrangeIowa or #GoOrangeNebraska. If you don’t have social media, email your photos to Jonathan Napolitano and we will share them on our Facebook page!

NKF Central Iowa Golf Classic

The NKF Golf Classic is the nation's Premier Amateur Golf Event for Charity. Each year thousands of golfers from across the country participate in 30 events across the U.S. for the exciting competition and the chance to earn an invitation to the National Finals at Pebble Beach - while supporting the NKF and our mission.

Enter a team in one of two competitive divisions: the Handicap Index or Gross Division, providing you and your guests with a competitive yet social day of golf whether you are a low handicapper or new to the game. Each Handicap Index Division team can have one player with a handicap index of 8.0 or less and the total combined handicap index for your four players must be 42.0 or more. The Gross Division is for team whose golfers do not have an official USGA Handicap Index or do not meet the above Handicap Index requirements. Non-competitive entries are also available. Top teams in both competitive division from each NKF Golf Classic are invited to compete in the National Finals held at the famed Pebble Beach Resorts (additional fees required) held January 2025.

Kidney Korner

Leslie Day lost her Father to kidney disease the same day that her classmate, Katherine Dostart, found out that she needed a kidney. To Leslie, this was a sign from God saying "do for Katherine what you can't do for your Dad." Leslie said that she didn't think she could go on living her life knowing that she had something to save Kate's life. The two were simply classmates, and now share the gift of life. They were both actively involved in the Kidney Walk this year and continue to show their support to the NKF.
