Golnaz Friedman, RDN, CCTD

Golnaz Ghomeshi Friedman is a Senior Dietitian and Certified Clinical Transplant Dietitian for UC Davis Health Transplant Program and has been working in this role since 2014. Golnaz values the importance and impact of nutrition in the transplant population, throughout the phases of transplant. She has a strong interest in quality improvement and has been involved in a variety of projects directly impacting patient care.

She has developed and modified policies that have made a significant impact on the decision-making process in the Transplant Selection Committee for recipients and donors. Golnaz has worked with the Transplant team and served as co-investigator on various research projects including those centered around assessment of malnutrition, functional status and frailty in transplant candidates and objective assessment of diabetes risk in living donor candidates. Golnaz’s work has been presented at various national conferences including American Society of Nephrology and NATCO. Golnaz was also involved in the development of Transplant Nutrition Competencies that can be used in the initial and ongoing training of transplant dietitians. This work was published in the Journal of Progress in Transplantation in September 2017.

Golnaz also serves as the UC Davis Health Ambulatory Care Malnutrition Champion. She has played a large role in the rollout of the malnutrition diagnosing in the 30+ ambulatory care clinics at UC Davis including providing education and training to attendings, residents, and dietitians.

Golnaz values the importance of involvement in professional organizations. She is a Past President of the CA Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

When Golnaz’s world is not revolving around Transplant nutrition, she enjoys eating and cooking her way through America’s Farm to Fork Capital her family!
