ABOUT THE NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION

More than 26 million Americans - one in nine adults - have chronic kidney disease, and most don’t even know it. More than 26 million others are at increased risk. The National Kidney Foundation, Inc., a major voluntary health organization, seeks to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation. Through its many Affiliates/Divisions nationwide, the Foundation conducts programs in research, professional education, patient and community services, public education and organ donation. The work of the National Kidney Foundation is funded by public donations.

ABOUT THE GAMES

The NKF U.S. Transplant Games is a four-day athletic competition. Competition in the NKF U.S. Transplant Games is open to all recipients of life-sustaining solid organ transplants and marrow or peripheral blood stem cell transplants, including hearts, livers, kidneys, lungs, and pancreases. As much as the Games is an athletic event that calls attention to the success of organ and tissue transplantation, it is also a celebration of life among recipients, their families and friends.

The main goals of the NKF U.S. Transplant Games are to promote the success of organ donation and transplantation and to call attention to the need for organ donation through events and supporting activities before, during, and after the event.

Meet & Interact with Other Volunteers. Volunteering for the Games is an opportunity for you to meet other individuals with similar interests and skill. Some volunteers will be from the Madison area, while others will be from various states across America or even from around the world.

Lend a Helping Hand. It takes hundreds of volunteers to make the Games a success. Your help is needed and appreciated.
